Nigerian man narrates his experience growing up as a burn survivor

Below is a narration from a Nigerian man about his experience growing up as a burn survivor. He speaks on how his life changed after an accident that was sparked by a lantern while he was a kid.

I was a very handsome kid growing up with a lot of self confidence. You know; the dark and handsome, smart and brilliant kinda confidence. But at the age of 10, I experienced what changed my perception about life: I got burnt, an accident caused by a lantern at home. I was bed-ridden for a whole year and eventually got discharged of 3rd degree burns.
Everything that made sense to me changed, all I used to love made no sense anymore because I had no idea how to live in my new skin. It was a difficult period; kids saw me they’d run and cry, walking in the streets, people would stare and say sorry.

Do u know how many times I was denied taking a look at myself in the mirror? How many times I have been to surgery in different orthopedics, both in and out of the country? Couple of times I thought of c…

A government that watches people get killed every day is irresponsible- Amaechi

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, during an APC rally in Rivers state, says any government that watches its people get killed everyday without working to stop such a trend, is an irresponsible government.
''Every government has a responsibility to protect lives and property. The reason there is a government is because the people are alive. If a person dies there will be no government. Any government that watches its people killed every day is an irresponsible government. Governor Wike watches his people killed every day. I met a woman yesterday whose husband was killed in front of her with her son watching. It could have been any of you. I can assure you today that this government of Wike has failed. When I was your governor, you slept and I kept awake. As governor, I chased away criminals to their holes. I know that the reason they are into crime was because they had no money for them. I knew that for you to stop a man from crime you need to provide an alternative m…

De Gea Demands For Public Apology From Spain’s Prime Minister

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has called for a public apology from Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez over a disagreement between the two stemming from De Gea’s implication in a sex assault case before Euro 2016. The goalkeeper strenuously denied any involvement, with no evidence found to press charges but Sanchez expressed misgivings and said he “didn’t feel comfortable” with De Gea as Spain goalkeeper at the tournament. Sanchez met the Spain team last week, when he attempted to ease the tensionby apologising in person to De Gea. “I politely accepted his apology,” De Gea told Diario AS. “The issue is that what he said back in the day was in public and that is why I think the apology should also be a public one. “It’s also true that the majority of people in the public eye that disrespected me have not even apologised to me in private. “It’s easy to talk about others in this country. I always said that it was a lie and yet people continued saying that I should not go to…
